We live in Brentwood, TN, and hired Alan and his crew to paint our kitchen—including the walls, cabinets, trim, and ceiling—as well as our living room, including the walls, wood paneling, trim, and ceiling.
Before beginning the project, I interviewed several painters and ultimately chose Alan because of his competitive pricing, excellent communication, and attention to minimizing disruption to our family and our home. I especially appreciated his willingness to divide the project into two phases to accommodate our family’s schedule and the space we were living in.
Throughout the project, Alan and his crew were kind, respectful, professional, and incredibly communicative. I received regular texts, calls, and updates, and Alan consistently checked in with questions to make sure everything was exactly to my liking. Their attention to detail and quality of work really stood out.
We are very happy with the results and look forward to having Alan and his crew complete the second half of our project this fall. I would highly recommend Alan to anyone looking for a talented, reliable painter in the greater Nashville area!

5.0 · 73 Verified Google ReviewsAlan and his team did a wonderful job with our cabinet repainting project. We did both the kitchen and master bath. They also repaired some various wall damage from our pups. They are very respectful in your home. I work from home and they were great to accommodate.
Alan and his team did a fantastic job giving our 25 year old house a fresh modern look!
Alan is the most thoughtful and helpful painter I’ve ever used. He thoroughly researched his job and what would be the best materials, methods and techniques well before starting the re-staining job on our front door. He kept me well informed on what would need to be done and how long the job would take to complete. Alan treated the job at hand as if he were doing it for his own home. If you want a great painter and a trustworthy person, Alan is your guy!
Alan stained a covered pergola for us and did an awesome job. Perfect detail just as he did painting a bathroom for us several years ago. Highly recommend Alan.
We’ve had a lot of painters in and out of our homes over the years, and Alan easily takes the cake as the best. His work and attention to detail is unmmatched. He has painted everything in our bonus room, two bedrooms, and entire garage. He comes in and gets straight to work. His personality is warm, kind, and focused. But if I were to choose one word to describe Alan and his work it would be integrity—you just know the project is in great hands. He always exceeds my standards—hard to find someone like this these days. My kids always ask when “Mr. Alan” is coming back ha! Highly recommend!
In Their Own Words
Real reviews from Nashville-area homeowners — many of them repeat customers. Each one is quoted exactly as posted and links back to where it lives.
Alan did an amazing job! His attention to detail was top notch. His communication was always clear and he showed up on time or early each day. It was such a pleasure finding a contractor that personally stands behind the work and is actively part of the project to ensure everything goes successfully. Alan went above and beyond in every way. I really look forward to our next project together and highly recommend Alan as your go-to painter!
Alan impressed us with his excellent communication and attention to detail. We had a tricky schedule and he made it work! He is a perfectionist. Could not recommend more!
This is the 2nd time we had a project and hired Alan. It was very punctual for an estimate. He pays excellent attention to details. Would hire again no question. Thank you again!
I am not sure how best to describe Alan. Professional. Thorough. Thoughtful. Kind.
We needed to repaint the ceiling in our open plan living room and wanted to paint the walls as well. The high, sloping ceiling and walls were beyond my reach, but Alan took to the work with a plan and enthusiasm. The amount of effort he put into fixing some drywall damage and ensuring the ceiling and walls were as smooth as could be was simply tremendous. I remain amazed that he could cut in and paint straight lines with an outstretched pole while perched on a ladder fourteen feet in the air. We never thought our living room could look so good.
Alan was always on time, communicated well, and without fail left the job site (i.e., our home) just as clean as if not cleaner than when he arrived. From start to end, he exceeded all of our expectations.
So, again, I do not know which word of commendation best fits Alan. All I know is that you should hire him for your next painting job.
Alan Robinson Painting handled the finish work on a recent project with one of our Stephens Valley clients, and the results were exactly what we hope for when we bring in a specialist. Clean lines, careful protection of the home, and a crew that showed up ready and worked steadily through the day. We refer whole-home painting to Alan's team for a reason. Highly recommended.
Alan is absolutely fantastic. He listens. He has years of experience and leaves no stone unturned.
Alan and Sawyer did an excellent job painting a bedroom, pantry, and touch-ups in a bathroom. They were professional, left the rooms in excellent shape, and communicated well about their progress. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to complete a painting project in their home!
Highly recommend. Alan and his crew were great! Reasonably priced, thorough job, great communication. Will definitely use them again!
Alan and his team did an amazing job. The process was so easy for us. The estimate was upfront, easy to understand and helped us decide exactly what we wanted done. He took care of moving all furniture, artwork, etc, so we did not need to do any prep or cleanup. Not to mention, the paint work looked beautiful and it was so fun to come home and see our “new” home! Thank you!
Highly highly highly recommend! Alan and his team painted the exterior of our house in the Bellevue area. Due to our oddly built home, it needed extra attention with all this rain and Alan did not rest until everything looked exquisite! His communication is superb, which is hard to come by.
We had a great experience with Alan Robinson Painting. Alan, Alex, and the rest of the team are courteous and professional. They worked quickly and quietly, and they left each room cleaner than it was when they arrived. The quality of the work is top notch. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
They were great painters / cleaned up each day after their work / were on time each day .They painted a ceiling / all baseboards/ all walls in the home and were meticulous.I would recommend them to family and friends.
I cannot recommend Alan Robinson Painting more highly!!! He and his team were so professional, thorough, honest, and efficient. This is easiest five-star review I've ever given. The price was totally fair the quality of his work was worth every cent! At the end of the project, he did a walk-through of the whole property with us to make sure everything was up to our satisfaction. When we pointed out one spot where someone had accidentally gotten paint on a light fixture, he immediately took it down and cleaned it up with a smile. Such a kind man and a great family business. Book Alan today, you won't regret it! "The most trusted brush in Nashville"!
Alan was great! Help us painting the front of our house in places we wouldn’t dream of reaching. He did a fantastic job and was very nice. Will be using again!
Alan did a wonderful job painting our home. He is professional, meticulous, very hard-working and timely. He was also very kind to our children and was never put out by their asking him questions. Alan brings his lunch and keeps at the job until it’s done. I would highly recommend him and certainly will be reaching out to him for future jobs!
Alan is meticulous and skilled. He shows up on time, he is courteous, works fast and leaves his workspace clean at the end of each day. There’s lot of painters but not everyone is truly professional in every sense. Well worth the few extra dollars to have painting done right! After all, I look at his work everyday!!
Alan is spectacular !!! You won’t go wrong with any work you need for your home or office. Definitely would recommend
Alan and his team were the best painters I’ve ever had. The entire process was easy from estimate to clean up. Alan was so incredibly helpful in testing colors and finding the right color fit for our house. His team was professional, meticulous and kind. Everything was put back in all the right spots and the house was left cleaner than when they started! They also were completely trustworthy which is such a big deal when having a team in your house day and night. They were so fantastic and the quality of their work is second to none. I recommend them without hesitation. They are customer service, quality and kindness wrapped together to make an exceptional experience painting your home.
Alan is very good with communication on site. He gave me updates on progress and made sure I was happy with the work every step of the way. I highly recommend using him for your painting projects
Alan does fantastic work!!
Alan painted the exterior of my house with meticulous care, identified some rotten wood and connected me with a terrific carpenter to repair it, refinished two antique doors, and re-plastered a room that was a mixture of cracked plaster, wallpaper, and drywall. He gives detailed estimates upfront and works efficiently but carefully. Highly recommended.
I have known Alan for a great number of years. He is a very hard-working and honest and reliable Christian man. His work is impeccable and I would do business with him again in a heartbeat.
Alan painted most of our main floor area, including a dining room with divided moulding and dual colors. Everything was so meticulously done. Pricing breakdown was clear and fair. We absolutely recommend this company!
Alan is my brother and has painted every house I have owned. He has also painted my office building in Bellevue multiple times over the last 20 years. His attention to detail, work ethic, and honesty are second to none. I would highly recommend calling Alan! You won’t be disappointed!!1
Alan does such excellent work! We would highly recommend him. We were unsure of the house color we wanted because there were so many options and he came in our house and recommended the perfect color! Alan did such a professional job from start to clean up. We would use him again!
We’ve used Alan for two separate painting projects and would gladly use him again in the future. He’s easy to communicate with and does excellent work. I appreciate having the same person do all the work start to finish.
Alan is wonderful! So easy to work with, great at communication. He has done multiple projects for us and we are always happy with the results!
Alan is incredible. He has painted our living room and our deck and did amazing work with each project. He is a quick worker but still manages to deliver flawless results—not to mention he is a truly kind soul!
Alan has done numerous painting projects and handiwork projects for me over the years! He’s always shows up when he says he will and communicates very well. He always protected the space well and his cleanup is emaculate. His trim lines have been perfectly straight and clean. He’s a great artist too!
Great experience from start to finish. Showed up on time, paid attention to detail, and the paint job turned out great. Everything was clean when the job was done and the whole process was easy. Definitely recommend.
Alan does a great job! I have used him multiple times. He is punctual and fairly priced. I highly recommend him.
Alan Robinson Painting was highly recommended to me by a neighbor. I was first impressed by Alan’s responsiveness to my questions/requests and also his sincere willingness to engage the client in ongoing conversations about the project. Alan is very detail-oriented and upfront with every itemized cost for labor and materials. His patience with the client’s questions and plan changes made the project process orderly, pleasant, and very satisfactory. Alan clearly assigned his painters’ crew daily tasks every day; they are well trained and experienced painters. They arrived on time, worked very hard, and collaborated very well. At the end of day, they made sure things were put away and rooms were cleaner. Furniture and things were put back the way they were. At the end of the project they cleaned all the rooms and mopped the floor. The final walkthrough was thorough and detailed. In sum, I am very pleased with Alan’s excellent services and his hard working crew! I truly appreciate him and his crew for the great job they have done to make my house a much more comfortable place to live and enjoy.
From a very grateful and satisfied client
They did great work. Punctual, professional, pleasant and neat. Will use them again!
If you’re looking for the most professional, thoughtful, and detail oriented painter, look no further. I originally hired another company that ended up doing a terrible job staining our fence. Alan came to our rescue and did a fantastic job from beginning to end. Additionally, Alan is a pleasure to work with. Going forward, myself (and now my in laws) will be going back to Alan for every future painting projects.
Alan does a fantastic job! Makes sure things are done right the first time. Highly recommended. 👍
I have hired different painters over the 20+ years of home ownership and Alan is hands down the best. I truly did not find one drip or one place where the lines were not crisp and clean. He even repaired a hole in our interior door and it looks like it never was damaged. I almost want to call him an artist. He was also helpful in picking paint colors. Helping me understand how different lighting in each room will impact what the shade of paint looks like day in and day out. Super clean. Incredibly honest. Super professional!
Alan attention to detail is amazing. He goes beyond the scope of the work to make sure the end product is perfect. I recommend Alan every chance I get.
Alan is the BEST! I feel safe with him around my children and the many workers we had working on other house things, commented how amazingly kind Alan was to them. He’s an excellent painter and strives to go above and beyond for his clients! Thank you, Alan!

Alan Robinson did top notch quality work when we had him paint our living room, high open stairway, loft, hall and kitchen. He was punctual, courteous, fair and paid attention to detail. He worked quickly made it easy for us to keep pace with life vs shutting spaces down for days. We had him come back to do our den, dining room and high spaces plus another hallway. He asked if we liked color after it was up and did thorough spot checking to make sure we had a solid and even sheen to each wall in entirety. We have been very pleased with his work and how his efficiency and professionalism showed and changed our space to a much more inviting space than before. Easily the best contractor we’ve ever worked with.
We hired Alan to paint several rooms/areas in our house.
Alan’s attention to detail is unmatched. Communication and expectations are clear. His recommendations come from a career of experience, and prep work prior to painting is meticulous.
Alan kept our best interests in mind at every step, is as courteous as any person could be, great with all family members, and just an overall stand-up guy in every way.
Most of all, Alan brought our vision to life through painting and has made our house feel that much more like a home. We will definitely hire Alan for our next project.
Thank you, Alan!
We asked Alan to come in and repaint the entire interior of our home. My wife had narrowed down her colors to a couple, and Alan helped clarify some concerns she had as well as offered his insight as to how the options would play out for each space. Once the test samples were rolled out, it was very easy to see why he recommended what he did.
His prep work identified some issues another contractor had created, and Alan helped guide us on the corrections needed to achieve the quality we expected. He also worked with the delay created by this unplanned work, and was able to reschedule with minimal impact to our schedules.
Once the corrections were made and he was able to finish his prep work, his attention to detail and precision were immediately evident. Being a multi-day project in an active home, Alan ensured to clean up daily, and minimize the impact he and his equipment made on our lives.
Alan is great guy, and his personality and demeanor show in his work. I highly recommend him.
