A New Privacy Fence in Thompson Station, Stained Before It Could Gray

A new vertical-board privacy fence with framed posts and post caps, around the backyard of a new-construction home in Thompson Station. It was stained a warm cedar tone while the wood was still fresh, before sun and rain could start turning it gray.

Fence Staining That Shows Its Work

Three frames show a run half stained, raw wood right beside the new color, with the base of the fence protected by cardboard and tape so the stain stays on the boards and off the lawn. Two close frames show the grain where the boards meet the grass. The pails on the lawn are Cabot Australian Timber Oil, a penetrating oil finish. The homeowner had hired someone else first; the review below explains why we were the second call.

What the homeowner said

If you’re looking for the most professional, thoughtful, and detail oriented painter, look no further. I originally hired another company that ended up doing a terrible job staining our fence. Alan came to our rescue and did a fantastic job from beginning to end. Additionally, Alan is a pleasure to work with. Going forward, myself (and now my in laws) will be going back to Alan for every future painting projects.
